Cyclops 8x

Dieses flache Monokular Modell "Cyclops 8x" stammt aus der Mailänder Fa. "La Filtoecnica" des Ingenieurs Salmoiraghi, einem Mitarbeiter von I. Porro (s. Verweise unten). Auf dem Blechschild findet sich außerdem die Beschriftung "Monocolo brevettato", was für "patentierte Monokular" steht. eine genaue Datierung ist nicht möglich, die Verwendung der Aluminiumhalterung für die Prismen (s. Foto) läasst aber eine Herstellung erst ab Anfang des 20. Jh. vermuten, als dessen Gebrauch üblicher und billiger wurde. Die Form erinnert stark an das spätere "Minox T8". Das "Cyclops" verwendet ein Porro II-Prismensystem mit einer Okularfokussierung (s. Fotos des geöffneten Monokulars).

This flat sized monocular model "Cyclops 8x" comes from Milano by "La filotecnica", a optical instruments factory run by Porro's collaborator Salmoiraghi (s. ref. below). There are also the words "Monocolo brevettato" on the brass label, which means "patented monocular". A precise dating is not possible. But the use of an aluminium body hints to a production after 1900, when this became more common and affordable. Thedesign resembles much the later "Minox T8". The "Cyclops" has a porro II-prism system with a focussing eye-piece (s. pics of the opened monocular).
