Klappmonokular (Nachbau)

Dieses Monokular ist ein Nachbau eines klapp-/faltbaren Monokulars, dass möglicherweise als Opernglas diente (es gibt auch eine zweiäuigige Variante!). Weiter Reproduktionen des Klappglases haben die Inschrift "King Optical Co. 1891" (Foto 3)

Es ist aus Messing gefertigt und hat keinen durchgehenden Tubus, sondern ein Okularteil mit Fokussierungsrad und eine aufstellbare Objektivlinse. Mit einem kleinen Hebel lässt sich die Objektivlinse aufrichten, wobei diese die zusammengeklappten Deckel aufdrückt.

Folding monocular (reproduction)

This monocular is a reproduction of a folding monocular which probably was used as a sort of opera glass (there also is a binocular version!). Other reproductions are stamped King Optical Co. 1891 (photo 3).

It is made of brass. There is no tube body, but an ocular lens piece with dioptre adjustment and a pop-up objective lens. The small lever at the side erects the lens – the lens in turn pushes apart the two covers.
