Hensoldt 12x50 Penta-Monocle "Marine"

Aus der frühen Serie der Penta-Monocles mit geradem oberen Deckel (s. Katalog 1901) stammt dieses 12x50 Modell "Marine". Damit hatte es nicht nur ein sehr hohe Vergrößerung, sondern war auch sehr lichtstark. Der vierfach verschraubte Deckel ist mit "Hensoldt Wetzlar D.R.P. Vergr=12×" beschriftet. Darüber hinaus hat sich ein Benutzer die Vermerke "N -3" und "F -6" eingraviert, welche wohl die Dioptrieneinstellung für die Nähe (N) und Ferne (F) bei diesem Benutzer angeben. Das Monokular ist aus Messing und Aluminium und mit braunem Leder ummantelt. Die Trageriemenöse ist dreifach angeschraubt. Am linksseitigem Okularstück ist ein Dioptrienring mit umlaufender Skala (markiert bei +/-5) und eine 2/3 Augenmuschel.

Dating from the early series of Penta-Monocles with a flat top cover (cf. catalogue 1901) this 12x50 model "Marine" had not only a very high magnification but also a high luminosity. The cover palte having four screws is marked "Hensoldt Wetzlar D.R.P. Vergr=12×" ("Vergr" = German abbreviation of magnification). Furthermore, some user scratched his personal dioptre adjustments for "far" (F) and "near" (N) objects into the cover: "N -3" and "F -6". The monocular is made of brass and aluminium. it is covered with a brown txtured leather. The strap lug is screwed onto the body with three screws. The left-hand sided eyepiece comes with a focusing ring with a full dioptre scale being marked at +/-5, and a 2/3 eyecup.

Wie bei den anderen Bincoles und Monocles dieser Serie lässt sich am Gehäuseende eine Überwurfring abschrauben, so dass sich relativ problemlos der gesamte trichterförmige Prismenstuhl mit Prisma herausziehen lässt. Dabei kann das Objektiv angeschraubt bleiben, lässt sich aber ebenfalls abschrauben, wenn gewünscht.

Like with the Binocles or Monocles a retainer ring can be unscrewed at the end of the housing so that you can quite easily remove the funnel-shaped prism chair completely with the prism. The objective stays screwed into the prism chair still, but yo ucan unscrew it as well if you want.

Das Monokular ist 188-192mm lang. Das Gehäuse ist oben 40x69mm breit und unten 65mm im Durchmesser. Die Objektivfassung ist 64,5mm im Durchmesser. Das Okularstück 24mm, der Fokussierungsteil 30mm und die Augenmuschel 38mm im Durchmesser. Das Marine-Monocle wiegt 491g. Die Trageriemenöse ist 49mm lang.

The monocular is 188-192mm long. The hosuing measures 40x69mm at its top, and is 65mm in diameter. The objective frame is 64.5mm in diameter. The eyepeice is 24mm, the focusing ring 30mm, and the eyecup 38mm in diameter. The "Marine-Monocle" weighs 491g. The strap lug is 49mm long.
