Hensoldt 10x50 "Nimrod I" Penta-Monocle

Aus der 5. Modellreihe der Pentaprismengläser von Hensoldt stammt das 10x50 "Nimrod"-Monokular von 1904. Es hat eine Vollgusskorpus aus Aluminium mit runder Schulter und aufgespritztem Lack bzw. Emaille. Die Trageriemenöse ist mit drei Schrauben angeschraubt. Auch die Beschriftungsplatte ist vierfach angeschraubt und trägt die Kennzeichnung "Hensoldt Wetzlar D.R.P. Vergr=10x". Am Objektivende lässt sich der Überwurfring abschrauben und so der Prismenstuhl entnehmen. Das linksseitige Okular hat eine 2/3 Bakelitaugenmuschel und eine komplett umlaufende Dioptrienskala mit Markierungen bei Null und plus/minus Fünf. Das Okularstück, die Trageöse und der Überwurfring sind aus Messing.

Being one model of the 5th penta prism series by Hensoldt the 10x50 "Nimrod" Monocular dates from 1904. It has an aluminium body with a round shoulder cast in one piece. It is covered with sprayed on lacquer or enamel respectively. The strap lug is screwed on with three screws. The label plate also has got four screws. It is marked "Hensoldt Wetzlar D.R.P. Vergr=10x". The lock ring at the objective end can be screwed off allowing then the prism chair to be taken out. The left-hand sided ocular has a 2/3 Bakelite eyecup and a dioptre scale running fully around the ocular. It is marked with zero, plus and minus five. The eyepiee, the strap lug and the lock ring are made of brass.

Das 10x50 hat eine für damalige Zeiten sehr große 50mm Objektivlinse, deren Fassung 60mm Durchmesser hat. Der Überwurfring ist 66mm im Durchmesser. Das Gehäuse ist unten 64x64mm, an der breitesten Stelle bei der Beschriftungsplatte 69x62mm und oben 40x64mm breit. Die Metalllippe der Trageriemenöse ist 40mnm lang und 8mm, die Beschriftungsplatte 80x23mm breit. Das Okular ist 26mm, der Fokussierungsteil 31mm und die Augenmuschel 40mm im Durchmesser. Das Nimrod-10x50 wiegt 510g.

The 10x50 has a 50mm objective lens which is quite big for that time. The lens frame measures 60mm, whereas the lock ring has a 66mm diameter. The housing is 64x64mm at its bottom, 59x62mm at its widest part near the label plate, and 40x64mm at its top. The metal lip of the strap lug is 40mm long and 8mm wide. The label plate is 80x23mm. The ocular is 26mm, the focusing ring 31mm, and the eyecup 40mm in diameter. The Nimrod 10x50 weighs 510g.
