Faltmonokulare

Hierbei handelt es sich um eine Porro-I-Prismen Bauform, die wahrscheinlich mit dem Carl Zeiss "Turmon" eingeführt wurde.
Die beiden Tubusteile sind mit einem Drehgewinde verbunden und lassen sich so aufklappen oder zusammenfalten.

Folding Monoculars

Folding monoculars have a porro I prism system, which is said to be introduce by Zeiss with its "Turmon"
The two prism housing are connected with a turning thread, so that you can fold or undofld the parts.

 

Im ersten Foto sieht man ein aufgeschraubtes Turmon, das im aufgeklappten Zustand wie ein liegendes S konstruiert ist. Der Strahlengang wird durch zwei Prismen geleitet und steht zunächst auf dem Kopf. Erst durch das Falten um 90° wird das Bild aufgerichtet (s. 2. Foto).

Der Nachfolger des Turmon sind die faltbaren Docter-Monokulare von der Fa. "Jena Analytik".

 In the first picture yo ucan see an opened Turmon, which looks like a lying S when unfolded. The light path ios conducted through two prisms and would show the image upside down. Only when folding the monocular in a 90° angle the image is erected (s. pic. 2).

The Turmon successor is the folding Docter-Monoculars by the "Jena Analytik" company.

 

Es gibt eine ganze Reihe solcher Faltmonokulare 8x21. Vermutlich werden die meisten in China für die Vertreiber hergestellt (s. Bilora, Bresser, Eagle Optics, Eschenbach, Helios, Shunjiang, Steiner 8x22 [s. 2.Bild oben]). Diese Faltmonokulara tauchen immer wieder unter neuen Markennamen auf.

There are quite a few variants of folding monoculars 8x21. Assumingly most of them are made in China for different distributors (s. Bilora, Bresser, Eagle Optics, Eschenbach, Helios, Shunjiang, Steiner 8x22 [s. 2. pic. above]). These folding monoculars appear again and again under new tradenames.

Die Modelle aus der hinteren Reihe stammen aus russischer Fertigung und das Faltmonokular von Lan Optics ähnelt von der Beschaffenheit noch sehr dem Turmon.

The models from the back row are made in Russia; the folding monocular by Lan Optics is stil lquite similar to the original Turmon.

Früher gabe es Turmon-Nachbauten von Wray aus London (Panora 8x21), von Goerz in Preßburg sowie das "Companion x6" von Steward in london.

 In the past, there were Turmon replicas or licenced copies by Wray London (Panora 8x21), by Goerz Bratislava as well as the "Companion x6" by Steward in london.
