Carl Zeiss 8x60H

Ein seltenes Exemplar des meist militärischen 8x60H Fernglases von Zeiss ist dies 8x60H Monokular. Es hat keine Seriennummer ist aber ansonsten am Deckel vollständig beschriftet. Außer mit dem Logo und der Modellbezeichnung ist es mit einem "T" für den damals nur für militärische Gläser genutzten T-Belag beschriftet. In seiner Form entspricht es anderen Porro-II-Modellen mit einem runden Prismengehäuse und einem konischen Objektivtubus. Die Kennzeichnung "H" steht für Helligkeit, was in der Zeiss-Modellserie auch durch eine an das Porro-II-System zementierte Bildfeldlinse herrührte (s. Bild). Die Bauform ist die 1. Ausführung des 8x60H-Modells.
Auf dem Rand der Objektivfassung ist "M. P. R. Christmas 1945" eingraviert.		 A rare specimen of the mostly military 8x60H binoculars by Zeiss is this 8x60H monocular. It has no serial number, but all other necessary markings. Besides the logo and the model specifications, it is engraved with a "T" for the T-coating that was used for military optics at that time. Its design resembles that of other Porro II glasses with a round prism-housing and a slender conical objective tube. The H designation stands for "Helligkeit" (= illumination) which was produced among other things by the field-lens cemented to the prism system for several Zeiss models (cf. picture). The design is the first model make of the 8x60H models.
On the rim of the objective frame is engraved "M. P. R. Christmas 1945"

Das 8x60H ist ca. 270mm lang und das runde Prismengehäuse ist 80mm im Durchmesser. The 8x60H is about 270mm long and the round prism housing measures 80mm in diameter.

Ob die zweite hier gezeigte 8x60 Variante ein originäres Monokular oder nur ein halbes Militärfernglas ist, bleibt ungeklärt. Das Monokular hat den dicken Objektivtubus mit einer Sonnenblende wie die 1. klassischen 8x60 Dienstgläser. Die Schrauben am Gehäusedeckel sind unterschiedlich oder fehlen. Sie sind daher nicht alle original. Auch hier gibt es keine Seriennummer. Whether the second 8x60 model shown here is an original monocular or a binocular half remains uncertain. This monocular has the thick objective tube with an extendable sunshade like the classical first 8x60 service glasses. The screws on the top cover plate differ from each other or are missing. Hence, most of them are not original ones. Again, there is no serial number.
