Bausch & Lomb 6x30 "Jacix"

This B&L (Rochester N.Y.) monocular is a 6x30 one, and has the serial number 50503 (another one 50471). An exact dating is not possible for me (probably 1915-1930). The code word in a 30s brochure is "Jacix". It is a porro I prism monocular still constructed in the Zeiss type: it has an objective lens tube screwed to the body, a leather covering of the brass body, a wide dioptre range with a scale running all the way around the eye-piece. The eye-cup is made of Bakelite. There is a metal lug attached to the body.
Another specimen with serial number 202287 has a cast-in round strap-lug. The housing is coated with a linear textured plastic finish resembling wood grain.

The monocular weighs 284g (10oz), and measures 110x53x50mm. The f.o.v. is 8"36' or 150yds/1000yds.
Still another specimen (coll.: J. Kelly) comes with a dove-tail mount. So, it was probably used as a gun-sight or aiming sight on another isntrument.
